Iceland 2014

Within minutes of getting off the plane, we are surrounded by Lupines. Everywhere!

Lupines and Lava - Iceland is Iceland is volcanically and geologically active.

There are Huge seabird colonies, include Northern Fulmars,

Black Guillemots,

and Black-legged Kittiwakes.

Birding along the lakes and fjords, we found...

Black Tailed Godwit,

spinning Red-necked Phalarope (this one female),

Rock Ptarmigan,

and the every present Redshank.

Gullfoss

Glaciers and waterfalls were everywhere (this is Gullfoss).

The often rumored trolls were nowhere to be found, however.

But the picnics,

birding...

and walks up volcanoes were all great fun!
